Hello it’s Deanie and today I’m going to
be doing the book reading taste [habits] tag which I originally saw the Booktube
Goddess do and then I just tagged myself to do it. So first question is “Do you
have a certain place at home for reading?” And here we go. This is my corner of the
couch. It is my couch corner. It has like a little chaise lounge kind of deal and
then the rest of couch I also sometimes use but really this is my corner. It is
mine, I will sit here and I will read. I can’t read in bed. I read in this
position when I’m at home. This is where I read. Can’t read in my bed, can’t read
sitting anywhere else. Just here. Second question “Bookmark or random
piece of paper?” Let’s take a look shall we?
Exhibit A. Let’s open up and it is the top part of an Ikea receipt that is
ripped. So random piece of paper. Exhibit 2 also
the rest of the IKEA pieces receipt so 100% I just use random stuff that I find
which is usually receipts. Receipts are very good because I don’t mind if they
get crinkled or anything or if I’m like, I need another bookmark because I’m
reading another book so then I just rip it and it works.
Third question “Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a certain
like chapter or a certain number of pages?” Let’s look shall we. Let’s go back
to again example. Oh look I am in the middle of just everything. There is no
rhyme or reason why I stopped other than I probably got tired. So that’s one
example of just not caring when I stop. Let’s see about this one. Also in the
middle of everything because I don’t know. Again I just stop when I’m tired so
like if I’m tired in the middle of the chapter I’m just gonna stop reading, but
if it’s like a super good chapter then I’ll keep reading but otherwise…
Okay fourth question “Do you eat or drink while reading?” Sometimes? I really like
these cookies. Yeah sometimes I eat because I don’t know. Why not.
Sometimes I’m hungry but want to eat. Fifth question “Multitasking: TV or music
while reading?” Yes I have the TV right there and I will usually have it on.
Normally to actually YouTube usually like Let’s Plays or video game stuff and
then I’ll just read and watch. Sometimes music but more so just YouTube stuff. Sixth
question “One book at a time or several at once?” Usually several at once.
Okay maybe not like this many like will get like maybe.. we’ll do like two
physical and then like two ebook or two physical and one ebook, one audiobook.
Usually like max 4 but I’ll usually be reading at least like two things at the
same time. Seventh question “Reading at home or everywhere?” And either here or at
work during a break. I can’t read out in public otherwise cuz like I feel really
weird because I can’t… Well not that I feel weird. I just can’t ever pay
attention cuz there’s just like too much going on and I usually will like hear
other people talking and having conversations and then I just can’t
focus on the book. So I need not too many conversations like for some reason TV,
TV’s fine but like multiple conversations happening at once around
me just too much. Eighth question “Reading out loud or silently?” I’m pretty
sure Cameron would not like it if I just randomly read out loud unless he wanted
me to read out loud because it’s a small apartment and
either he’s watching TV as I’m reading or
playing a video game and that I think that would just be like too many things
going on at once if I then started like reading aloud and it’s definitely
inappropriate at work. So yeah. Silent. Ninth question “Do you read ahead or skip
pages?” No. No. I think so I used to sometimes like read the last page of a
book just to see what it was like but I don’t do that anymore.
I’ll look up spoilers. I don’t know if that.. that’s not really skipping around.
But yeah I can’t really skip around much. Cameron once told me that he will
sometimes read the first sentence in a paragraph and the last sentence and then
kind of skim in between and I just looked at him like he was just like.. what
are you doing? How are you really.. what is this way of madness? I didn’t
understand it I was like but like you’re missing so much I feel like, or at least
I would be. So it’s like no we’re just gonna.. we’re gonna do it how it’s written.
Don’t skip. Tenth question “Breaking the spine or keeping it like new?” None of
these spines are broken but I never did that purposefully. Actually I checked and
none of my spines are broken but I don’t know why like I don’t really care
actually. I just open it up and this is how it opens and that’s fine. I mean this
is just how it do. Works out fine I have no issues. And the eleventh question “do
you write in your books?” And no I don’t because I don’t really like writ… I
don’t even take notes while I’m reading I just can’t. I just like I want to focus
solely on the book. I don’t want to have like any random like writing things then
I’ll just like it distracted. I just like to read and then process afterwards just
in my head and then like after I’m done with the book then I’ll write some notes
sometimes if I’m doing a review. But like I can’t write in the book. Also my hand
writing is messy. I just wouldn’t like it. I just want my book to be fresh so then
even if I read it.. because I love rereading so then I come with it at sort
of fresh eyes or at least I don’t have anything like mudding it up but I just
don’t like the visual appeal of like writing in the margins and everything.
And that’s it for this tag. It was nice short and sweet and I’m gonna tag a few
people. Pints and Paperbacks. Art, Books and Other Things.
Michael Knipp. And The CodeX Cantina. So if y’all want to do it, go for it. If you
don’t, sorry I tagged you. Just ignore me. Thanks for watching!
