Hello, I’m Rogan and welcome. Today, I will be telling you
what books I plan to read for the Queer Lit Readathon. I have eight books on this list. I will tell you
the book, then what categories they fit. Most of these books actually fit several categories. I will tell you just the ones that I
specifically “assigned” to that book. It may be helpful to mention when this is happening!
December 1-7. That’s soon, two weeks from now. So if you haven’t set your TBR, get on it soon! Let’s get into what books I will be reading! First, of course, Orpheus Girl which is the Group Read. Cantoras, which means singers, will meet three:
Author of Color, #ownvoices, and Historical Fiction. Amateur: A True Story About What Makes a Man. It will
meet three: Choose Your Own Category – Memoir, Trans or Nonbinary MC, and Non-fiction. Gender Queer will meet two:
Ace/aro MC and Graphic Novel. The Hidden Witch, this is the second book
in a series, will meet Middle Grade. Unbroken: 13 Stories Starring Disabled Teens. Obviously,
it’ll meet Disability Rep, the second is New Genre. I have to explain this. I personally will read anything,
so I decided New Genre will mean–for me– it will mean a genre that I tend to not read often. Short story collections, poetry, etc.
So this is a short story collection. Full Disclosure will meet three: Bi/Pan MC,
Rainbow Cover, and New Author. Last, but not least, Blue Is the
Warmest Color will meet Translated. That’s the eight books I hope to read during this week. A lot of these will depend on if it’s available at
the library or not. One example, Full Disclosure. It’s a new book, recently released
on October 29th, I believe. So my library has it on order, but will it arrive
in time for the readathon? Who knows? I hope it will, but if not, I have
backup plans. If I need them. Oh, and if you couldn’t tell, I was going for a full blackout.
Kathy and I tend to try to do that, just for fun. If we don’t achieve it, we’re not mad about it.
But it’s fun to try and cover all of the challenges. I will end here, if you have any questions
leave them in the comments. If you’re participating in this readathon,
let me know what you will be reading. Or tell me where I can find your
video/post/picture/whatever it is. I’d love to see what you all are
reading for this readathon. If you want to support my content financially, I have
Patreon, which is monthly, and ko-fi, which is one-time. Subscribe to this channel. Follow me on all
my socials – Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. Thanks for watching, see you next time.
You have so many books on your TBR that I also want to read!!
I definitely need to read Full Disclosure someday. And I've been wanting to read The Witch Boy FOREEEEEEEEVER. (And, of course, I'm absolutely stoked that Cantoras is on this list as well.) Wishing you the best of luck as a host and participant <333
I'm also at the mercy of my library for a lot of the books on my tbr…. I'm still on hold for most of them but I'm hoping it works out!
Oooo TBR sounds interesting, (I had to google what that is, "To Be Read"? right? I'm starting my own YouTube channel and thanks to you, I now want to include books content. I really love reading. Bit of a real challenge though. :/ But pretty cool! Thanks for this. Going to look into this. Also, Hidden Witch, Unbroken and Gender Queer sounds so good! You got lots of great choices on your list.
unbroken has some really good stories in it although my favorite disability related story with queer rep is from the anthology All Out
Gender Queer and Hidden Witch were two of my recent faves! I hope you like them as much! I also have Cantoras on my TBR.
